Our Sustainability Manifesto

Ethical supply chain

At Plain Material, we understand that protecting labour rights across the supply chain is a complex challenge that requires ongoing effort and vigilance. That’s why we focus on achieving visibility and building trust with our suppliers. Our approach centers on transparency and ethical sourcing practices, ensuring that our suppliers meet the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. This commitment helps us promote fair labour practices and safeguard worker well-being throughout our supply chain. Our team at Plain Material is deeply involved in every step of sourcing. We always prioritise Workers' Rights in our sourcing decisions such as ensuring fair wages, providing reasonable working hours, and eliminating child labour and maintaining safe working conditions.

Carbon and Biodiversity

We are aligning our reporting frameworks with Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) for our public disclosure reporting that will be launch in 2025.

We are actively working towards becoming carbon neutral certified and are focused on measuring our scope 3 emissions by end of 2025.

We are also invested in preserving and enhancing biodiversity. By partnering with Textile Exchange, we ensure that our sustainability practices are aligned with industry standards for both carbon reduction and biodiversity conservation. This collaboration, providing us access to science based data, allows us to contribute meaningfully to large-scale impact, supporting efforts to promote sustainable practices within the textile industry. Textile Exchange are the source of key standards such as Responsible Wool Standard and Global Recycled Standard and that we will be using in the future as we expand our Yarn Collection.

Impact through traceability

We belevie that traceabolity give us access to key metrix to make better sourcing decision. We can risk assess our supply chain and understand how we better s navigate culture, while collecting impact dtaa to enable us to constentily imprive. We strive for full visibility into our production processes, allowing customers to follow the journey of their products from raw materials to finished items. We maintain respectful and established relationships with our mills and dyehouses. We also ensure that we can trace our raw materials back to their country of origin. Our dedication to transparency will be further supported by publishing an annual report on our activities by EOY 2025.

Circularity

Plain Material operates with a clear philosophy: to merge exceptional quality with sustainability. Our mission is to create durable, timeless products that is also impact positive. We believe that fashion can be both meaningful and enduring, designed to be cherished for years to come.

One of the standout elements of Plain Material’s approach is our focus on single-material design. By using only one type of fibre in our yarns, we simplify the recycling process and reduce waste. This shift aligns with our broader vision of a circular economy.
